Current Obsessions: Softy.

Decorating my new place has left me with one obsession: lucite ANYTHING.

You had me at light pink lacquer, Ms. Kayture.

Downtown LA flower markets. The BEST.

I mean, are words even necessary?

And lastly, obsessed with my city. Loving every inch of it.

Valentino Couture Spring 2013.

Valentino was on the garden-themed bandwagon this couture season, and even Pier Paolo and Maria seem to have their house signatures down pat (see structured sheath with cape, long sleeved tiered lace confection, close cut jacket with matching dress) they offered up a sweetest and most fairy-tale like version of the bunch. My personal favorite was that nymph-like water lilly silk blouson dress that could be straight from another era. Call me nostalgic. File under gorgeous.

What's that Jacket Margiela?

Sorry, couldn't help myself with that title. It's really hard not to think of Yeezy's song every time the name Margiela comes up. While I won't use this post as a forum to vent about the recent H&M collabo with the house (UGH) I did want re-post some of the backstage photos from the most recent couture collection (a backstage occurrence I'm pretty sure has never happened until this season.) Ever the controversial/freaking weird design house, I'm sorta feeling their take on the garden theme that was so present at the shows last week. File as fresh to death.

Fall/Winter/Spring.

I've been hearing a lot lately about this phenomenon called transitional dressing. Since weather in Los Angeles is almost perennially summer, I haven't had to deal with such nonsense; however now that I'm jetting to NYC in a few weeks and it's about negative thirty degrees there (actual forecast in the 20s) I've got my work cut out for me. Ideally, I'd like to bring all the same items that I'd rock in LA, just maybe with three parkas piled on top. Black booties, a printed pant, and an easy tee are exactly what the doctor ordered. Now I just need to find a super fabulous coat (maybe something fur?) to top it off with. File as let the hunt begin.

Rome, Sweet Rome.

Word has it that Fendi will be funding the much-needed restoration of the Trevi Fountain, and I for one and supes excited that the brand has decided to step it up (see Tod's and the Colosseum last year.) I know everyone thinks that visiting Rome is exactly like a Fellini movie and they should, because it is. I was lucky enough to live and study there during my senior year of college and there is nothing more that I want in the world than the chance to go back, even if just for a day. To wander Piazza Fendi, throw another wish into the fountain, drink vino bianco like it's going out of style, and eat the best food in the known universe (well at least to this ragazza.) File as saving my coins.

Look of the Week: West Coast Winter.

Winter may already by saying its goodbyes in Los Angeles, but I have no doubt that there are plenty of other locations that are still a bit chilly. (Case in point, I checked the weather for my NYC trip for fashion week and it's set to be a frigid 15 degrees.) So in an effort to reprogram my brain, I'm attempting to forgo storing all the chunky sweaters to the back of my closet, at least not until I return from the Arctic, otherwise known as NYC. File as lived in LA for too long.

Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey.

Fantasy:

Reality:

Don't you just wish that Monday's could be less hectic and more, well, glamorously leisurely. Is that even grammatically correct? Eff it, it's Monday.

Street Style: Couture Spring 2013 Part I.

Boy, girl, who cares. #NextLevelShit

Do I sense a hat theme trending?

Camel coats = an eternal classic.

Quite possibly the most romantic weather for the couture shows.

Hi!

Recreating look in 3...2...1...

Prada or nada.

Look who it is! Miss Soo Joo! Kiss, kiss!

Pretty much.

One of my absolute favorite pics from the street outside the couture shows. Perfection.

Oh, Miro. Why do you have to be as cute as a button?

Say cheese.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Model of the Moment: Soo Joo.

This Korea-born, California-bred model, is destined for stardom, especially after appearing in the Chanel haute couture show this past week and of course the Forever 21 Capsule 2.1 collection above (hellloooo.) Juicy tidbit: she jetted straight from the F21 set to Paris to be with the one and only Uncle Karl. Check out her interviews with Opening Ceremony and Vogue Italia, and try not to fall in love like I did. File as cutie pie.

Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2013.

If that picture of Lindsey Wixson isn't a beauty ad right there, than I don't know anything anymore. The Valli girls are always perfection walking down the runway (especially for his couture presentations- relive Spring 2012 and Fall 2012 with a click) and last week was no exception. It felt straight out of a fairy tale, filled with intricate embroideries to die for, secret garden floral flourishes, exaggerated shapes for days and the most gorgeous non-existant makeup ever. File as Cinderella.

Live and Die in LA.

Yesterday was quite the working Friday. In an attempt to collect some top secret items for a top secret feature for a top secret project (did I give anything away there?) I spent half my day romping around downtown Los Angeles in the fashion districts/flower district/garment district, and let me tell you it was probably one of the most fun times at work I've had while not at my computer. There were hotdogs eaten from the back of a truck (best ever), haggling galore, and street style to die for (snapping next time). I think I've found my new Friday stake-out spot. File as returning immediately.
