Playa del Carmen.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I thought no better way to celebrate the day than with a fabulous (virtual) vacation to Mexico or Playa del Carmen to be more exact. I can totally picture myself lounging on the beach enjoying a margarita and getting a nice little tan...that is until I realize that I'm really stuck in the library doing endless amounts of studying for finals. But hey, a girl can dream! Keep reading after the jump for the full itinerary and the perfect outfit for any Cinco de Mayo celebration, virtual or not.

Itinerary:

  • How much: starts at $449/night
  • What's included: white on white modern decor (oh and did I mention the white sand), awesome entertainment facilities in case the sun gets to be too much, undisturbed private beach, margaritas galore
  • What to do: explore 50 acres of wild jungle, snorkel as much as your heart desires, eat locally sustainable meals at Sal y Fuego, relax at the Aroma spa, pretend to be an Italian duchess on vacation
  • What not to do: bring your cellphone, worry about anything, think about work or ask what time it is
What to Pack: sunscreen, the smallest bikini you own, an extra large hat, only bright colors, thin cotton basics and something fruity
