I needed a little freshness on this rather blah Monday, and what better way to pump it up than with a turquoise wall? I must admit that I have lived in a turquoise room at one point in my life (long story short, not exactly my choosing) and even though it could be rather bright at times, it was definitely an instant mood lifter and made me dream of lounging on the beach. (Dying to go to Miami in the near future, can you tell?) And what more could you want than that? File as perk up!

So excited to have another friend's birthday this weekend! If only I could afford the plane ticket to spend it with both of them. I'm sensing a weekend getaway to NYC next year with both of them, hint hint... But regardless, I want to wish a very special day to Alison at Alison Reid Style, who is not only my favorite gal pal (and one that I know will always let me crash on her couch), but also the person who single handedly inspired me to create this blog! Without her support, I never would have done it. So I want to thank her, not only for being someone that I look up to for the best advice ever, but also being strong, beautiful, kind and of course very successful at whatever she puts her mind to! I hope you have a gorgeous Sunday, lady and of course an amazing year (enjoy it all!) File as cheers.

After avoiding my blog for a very short while (12 hours to be exact according to my Twitter feed here), I got a big ol' surprise from the girls in the beauty department over at the Glamour Magazine who featured one of the quotes I compiled for my ever favorite Wednesday column aptly titled Quotes. Sandwiched in between Heidi Klum's bun tutorial (actually totally needed that one) and top beauty looks of the week, I'm honored for the little bit of love! Hm...I guess this is a sign that I should not be avoiding my blog. Head on over to Glamour with this link and check out the other equally inspiring beauty quotes. A big thank you to everyone over at Glamour! File as stay beautiful, ladies.

To my dear friend Emily (who is just one of my beautiful friends who has a birthday this weekend) who is probably the single reason why I had entirely too much fun the last six months I was living in Berkeley, and who made even the most boring of Monday nights fab! Although I couldn't bake a cake for her today (since I'm in LA now, duh) this virtual one will have to suffice. Today is for you Emily, you are the most intelligent, gorgeous and hilarious chick I know...and you happen to make a mean al dente pasta dinner, without even using a timer. Happy birthday, love! File as enjoy.

Tilda in Haider Ackermann...girlfriend knows what works for her.
Color, color everywhere, not a drop to spare!
What's black and white and orange all over? Balenciaga!
Yeti chic is so hot for fall.
Ninja Turtle inspired to the max.
Everything is nicer through rose-colored glasses!
Oh. My. God. Look at her fur.
The chill is so much more bearable with Prabal Gurung glasses.
ADR in Fendi...naturally.
Quite possibly my favorite boots of the season.
Blow away...but looking damn good.

So it seems that I'll be away from my computer for the next few days on a work excursion over to Indio. Although it'll be more like a fabulous weekend away listening to some sick music and eating lots and lots of hot dogs (Farmer John's...yum) I will have to bid adieu to my computer until Monday. Follow me on Twitter @MaggieMurrieta and on Instagram @TheMargaretFile for all the updates of the weekend. Hope you have a lovely few days, enjoying all the sunshine you can! File as until Monday...

I may have agreed with that statement that every girl at Coachella looks like Pocahontas went to burning man at one point, but that is in the past! At the desert fest this year the ladies took it to a whole other level. Okay, so there were plenty of "vintage" Levi distressed shorts and crochet dresses, but there were a defining few who were dressed a cut above the rest (pun completely intended.) Case in point Dree Hemingway in those totally trashy chic (is that even allowed to be in the same sentence?!) knee-highs or the plethora of Isabel Marant Willow slash Bekket slash Perkins slash whatever the eff they're called now sneakers spotted on every It Girl's feet. And you know this wouldn't be a Coachella post without a mention of Miss Kate Bosworth (the queen of music festival style) rocking some seriously high hemlines. File as so much more chic.

OK, so I may not be at Coachella this weekend with basically everyone else who lives in Southern California, but next weekend I will be down in Indio at the KROQ house (many, many outfits must be scouted). So I figured it was no better weekend to share this gem of a hotel in Palm Springs (just a stone's throw away from the music fest) which is quite possibly the most lovely design element down in the area. The Saguaro, designed around 12 colors found in desert wildflowers, is the perfect mix of kitsch and modernity with a whole load of intensity. And the extra kick? The salivatingly delicious looking menus at Tinto and El Jefe (both of Iron Chef and James Beard winner Jose Garces) that would make me never want to leave the property. Now if only I could pick which color balcony, than I'd be booking my room immediately. File as bright!

For this Friday, I found no better runway show to feature than Lanvin's fall 2012 romp. And let me tell you, this was one collection to remember. Celebrating ten fabulous years, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin threw the party of all parties at his fall presentation. Guests rocked to a live band, ate a cake that if toppled, would have taken out more than a few of them, and lusted over some clothing that went from strong and bright to party perfect and back to all his classic embellishments. The fantasy he has spun for Lanvin for the past ten years has definitely been a defining moment in fashion, and going forward, it's anyone's guess where he'll take us next. File as party time.

One of my favorite fashion shows ever, Louis Vuitton's Fall 2009 collection is one that I will always remember for being so over the top, completely sexy and totally unforgettable. One of the most ingenious pieces in the collection was those bunny ears- lightyears in chicness away from those Playboy bunny ears and just strange enough to warrant a wear by Madonna at the Met gala that year- but for today, Tanya Ling's print (buy it here, I'll just be lusting after it) is just the thing to wish everyone a very happy Easter Sunday. File as hop to it.

Taylor's look is totally what I'm feeling right now- a little all over the place, definitely pushing some fashion boundaries (leopard and snakeskin in the same outfit?!) and totally unique. Can I just say that printed pants are my new obsession? File as, oh Mondays.
