Chanel Spring 2012.

Sorry to get this one to you so late, but I really wanted to share my final favorite collection at Paris Fashion Week, none other than Chanel. Like designers before him, he created an underwater world for his models complete with gigantic shells, (one of which Florence Welch emerged from to sing What the Water Gave Me) lots of sea-creature inspired designs and all the colors of the coral reef. My favorite moment overall? The pearl studded spines that ran down each of the models backs, reminding us that the sea is the backbone to all life. File as spectacular.

It's really Monday.

I seriously contemplated leaving my apartment in my pajamas this morning so I could pretend that I was just wearing a zombie costume, but alas it is Monday (and not a national holiday) so I have no excuse to get back to my daily ritual of Starbucks, spending time at the library applying for jobs and going through my never-ending to-do list. Hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween weekend, and that your costume isn't quite as tattered as mine (Betsey Johnson princess) is now. File as back to reality.

Ol' Hallow's Eve.

Today may be Friday, but what I'm more looking forward to is the Halloween party my dear friend is throwing on Saturday. Although my mother already has her outfit planned out for her trip to Vegas (so jealous) I'm still stuck on what to wear to the house soiree. I have two days to figure it out...I'm hoping that I'll be able to come up with something that is better than my mother's Little Red Riding Hood (finger's crossed.) Hope you all have a candy-filled Halloween even if you won't be dressing up. File as spooky.

Top Shots PFW Spring 2012 Part II.

Those colors!

At the Trocadero, one of my favorite spots in Paris.

ADR getting her groove on, in Versace for H&M nonetheless.

Shala Monroqe with the Grazia balloons.

Black and gold and definitely loving.

Because two colors are never enough!

More black and gold fabulousness.

Christopher Kane clutch- such a goodie.

I can never resist a good chintzy floral print.

Adios Caroline Sieber & PFW.

Lanvin Spring 2012.

Lanvin's spring collection by Alber Elbaz was the perfect mix of angels and hell. According to the designer himself, this was exactly his idea "because this I think is the world that we are living in." A little sweetness mixed with a whole lot of attitude, not to mention those ridiculously insane embellished pieces and perfectly draped dresses; all of it contained a serious dose of power. And Elbaz is all about power. "I’m not really into power people. I like strength people. Power you can buy in the bank and strength maybe is when people love you." File as heaven on Earth.

It Girl: Margherita Missoni.

Margherita Missoni is one girl who sure knows how to have fun with prints. Heir apparent to the Missoni fashion house, she not only acts as the public brand ambassador but also takes part in some of the creative processes (mom and grandpa still have the majority) but it was clear during the most recent runway collection that Margherita is much more apart of the company than her parents lead her to believe. Based on her and her friends early morning arrivals back home (after a night of dancing and gallivanting around southern Italy) the collection was pure exuberance and totally Margherita. File this It Girl as one to watch out for.

Monday, Monday, Monday.

This is exactly what I’ve got lined up for today: a stack of jobs to apply to, a comfortable lounging spot I don’t want to leave and a whole closet of fabulous items I have to contemplate parting with. All major decisions aside, I’ll be attempting to enjoy this Monday (maybe a spot of yoga for me and a vino rendezvous with a friend) after I get all this organization (both in my life and in my home) work done. Hope everyone has a lovely Monday (sorry for being away this weekend) and stay tuned for some more Paris Fashion Week coverage as well as some non-fashion posts to keep things interesting. File as is the weekend here yet?

Nina Ricci Spring 2012.

For all the prettiness that was shown on the Paris runways, Peter Copping's take at Nina Ricci had to be  at the pinnacle with the likes of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton or the beautiful dresses at Valentino. Feminine, light, ladylike, but with a touch of wit, the girls at Nina Ricci embodied everything I'd want to wear were I living in Paris (with unlimited amounts of money at that) in the springtime. From the exquisite coats, the lace details on the super-light dresses, or those classic Ricci prints, I got so caught up in the dream. Maybe one day I'll be rocking that cut-out dress while strolling through the Tuileries...I'm not ready to give up on that dream quite yet. File as lovely.

Givenchy Spring 2012.

Surfers and mermaids were the two reference points for Givenchy’s Ricardo Tisci’s spring collection, but you probably wouldn’t have guessed these two lest for the designer’s admission. Ok, so maybe the extra large (great white maybe?) shark’s teeth dangling from the models necks was a bit of a giveaway, or perhaps the fish scale sequins stitched onto the undulating ruffles of a jacket might have tipped off something fishy (ah-ha!) But all bad puns aside, this collection was by-far the chicest and most wearable oceanic inspired one of the bunch. It wasn’t so unreachable as Chanel, overtly sexy like Versace or strictly avant-garde like Alexander McQueen, but it was a quiet elegance that was totally cool. It was from Tisci’s runway that a woman (surfer or not) could quite literally pluck any look from the bunch and look instantly chicer in any city in the world. And what more could a woman want from a designer than that? File as perfection.

Eats: Brussels Sprouts.

Brussels sprouts (yes, that's a correct spelling) can be quite the hard sell. For some reason I think we all hated them as children. Overcooked, mushy and kinda smelly, the brussels sprouts of yesteryear were none too appetizing. But here my friends, is a recipe for sprouts that is sure to get you uber-excited about this most-hated side dish. Although I normally make mine the simple way (with loads of sea salt, fresh ground pepper and olive oil- roasted until they are browned and crispy) this recipe (with bacon I might add) makes them just a little bit more fancy than your average sprout. Try them as a side with an easy roasted chicken, grilled New York steak, classic lasagna (as I did at my graduation party) or with a sauteed piece of fish; (you get the point) these sprouts are seriously a delicious accompaniment to any dinner. Keep reading for the full recipe and file as noms.

Edited: Naughty, Naughty.

In honor of the recent Folsom Street Fair that I attended a few weeks ago (which is apparently the largest fetish and leather fair in the states) I figured no better way to look back on the fabulous leather-wear than with this spread of Lara Stone in just that, with a kinky twist of course. She may be more covered up than some of the men and women at the street fair, but than again San Francisco has few laws regarding clothing (or lack thereof.) Now that it's not so unbearably hot, I think I might have to dust off my leather pencil skirt from the back of my closet to make my look this week just a little less nice and a bit more naughty. File as going for it.

Dress up.

I am using just about any excuse to get all dressed up nowadays. Blame it on those cute little dresses in the back of my closet that are begging to be worn or the sudden obsession in wearing as many bracelets as possible, but I am all about gilding the lily. So dust off those jewels of yours this weekend, wear a ridiculously outrageous dress out with the girls and forget that dusty advice that you should take one piece off before leaving the house. Pile it on baby. File as weekend time!

Alexander McQueen Spring 2012.

Unable to describe this collection in any words that could be more succinct or quite frankly more perfect than those of fashion critic Tim Blanks, I encourage you to read his words below. Lovely, spot-on and very moving, his words stay with you long after you've read them, quite like the confections on the Alexander McQueen runway this season.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012.

Who doesn't love clothes as pretty as these? Marc Jacobs may be the most talked about designer right now (is he or isn't he going to Christian Dior?) but his collection for Louis Vuitton this season was the icing on the cake of the lovely girly trend that was seen all around New York, London, Milan and Paris. Although a clear contradiction from last season's fetish mistresses, this time around it was less about outright sexiness and more about a sweet strength. The whips may have been replaced with umbrellas, the cuffed clutches with bags as light as a feather and dominatrix hats with tiaras, but Kate Moss was still his finale, this time sans cigarette and all tanned and leggy. Looking pretty never looked so good. See the complete runway video over at and file as sweet tooth.
