Eadweard Muybridge, Animal Locomotion; Plate 197 (Couple Dancing) |
While on my Monday Funday at SFMOMA with my histories of photography class, there was one particular room that was rather peculiar in that it was filled with hundreds, maybe even thousands of plates of animals in motion. Muybridge, best known for this stop-motion photography, recorded some that were rather odd like Plate 99 of a man moving his leg in an awkward motion, while others quite charming like the leapfrog motion, but one that I instantly recognized was Plate 197 of a couple dancing. Luckily, the high resolution print is still available for purchase on 20x200, which I think would make a fantastic gift for any couple, even if they aren't so big on dancing. File this one as romantic.
