Dark Kitchen.
I am dying for a kitchen overhaul. I know it's shocking to imagine, but my kitchen consists of literally 1 foot of counter space, an oven/stove that can barely fit a normal sized sheet pan in it and one drawer. No joking here. All space quandaries aside, there is nothing I'd like to do more than paint all three of the cabinets that I have (it probably would only take me about 2.5 seconds) a color that is just a little more chic than medium bland wood, and after discovering these black cabinets, there is not other color I want my next kitchen to be. Whether it's a glamorous bohemian look like the first picture, a rustic country-kitchen like the fourth or sixth, or uber-modern like the fifth or final picture, black is definitely back. File as paint chip time.

Coveting: Snake Charmer.
Of all the trends I've witnessed this fall, there is none that I am more excited for than colored snakeskin. Don't get me wrong- I've always been a fan of snakeskin among others (PETA be damned) but this season I am completely charmed by brightly colored snakeskin, particularly in the form of accessories. Take for example the Zara shoes I was not-so-delighted to realize that the San Francisco store does not have in my size, the Miu Miu bag featured in Vogue Daily a few weeks ago or the Marc Jacobs bangles that would so love to join any arm party. I am definitely coveting each and every one of these items. Whether shown on the runway at Gucci or Prada, or underneath the arm of a style maven such as Ashley Olsen, I cannot stop dreaming about these brights. File under obsession.

It Girl: Shala Monroque.
So I know it's yet another Monday, but I wanted to start this week off big, with an It Girl that is on her way to becoming a style icon for the fashion set (according to by New York magazine and street photographers worldwide.) May I present to you, Shala Monroque. She counts Miuccia Prada (that would be the grande dame Ms. Prada herself) and Larry Gagosian (the biggest gallerist in the art-world) among her closest confidants, formally edited the fashion magazine Pop and plans on starting a new art magazine titled Garage in September, and blogs on the quirky Shala's Rabbit Hole. Her name, meaning infinite energy could be no more fitting for anyone but herself, which is why she is our It Girl of the week. File as fabulous.

Edited: Drama Queen.
If there were any editorial to represent my mood these past few days it would be this one- doleful, dramatic, romantic and trepidatious- all rolled into one little five foot four being, or here into one perfectly styled i-D spread featuring none other than the beguiling emotive supermodel, Raquel Zimmermann. Chock it up to my recent transition from student to unemployed or from attached to single, but I promise you all that I will be back to my normal mood by Monday to bring you some fabulous posts that will hopefully inspire you to make a change in your life, be it in your style routine (like yours truly), updating your home decor (work in progress always), a quick getaway to a new place (stay tuned) or just stopping to appreciate all the beauty in your life. File as weekend love!

Love, Friday.
The weekend is here, and let me tell you, it could not get here any sooner. I hope that everyone has a fabulous next few days, doing whatever it is that most relaxes you. For me it will be lots of yoga, catching up on sleep and spending time with friends doing absolutely nothing. Sounds like pure bliss. Kick up your feet this weekend and do the same! File as weekend recharge.

Take me Away.
Right now, there is nothing more I'd rather do than escape my to-do list and take a drive down the coast. Like Bambi Nortwood-Blyth here in Muse Magazine's spread, I just want to feel the wind in my hair, run through a field of wildflowers and enjoy the view from there. File as is it the weekend yet?

Eats: Roasted Chicken.
If there is one recipe that I am constantly scared of it would be roasted chicken. A seemingly simple dish that is in theory is much more difficult to concoct than foods that require three times as many ingredients, not to mention that I have possibly the world's smallest oven (surely from the 80s, destined for a museum or junk yard soon) which changes temperatures whenever it damn well pleases. Basically, what should be a simple roasted chicken, always proves to be quite a challenge. But, never one to turn down a challenge, I believe that I've found the perfect roasted chicken recipe. Adapted from many years of attempts (or failures I should say) and this new Design*Sponge recipe, I think I might have uncovered the gem that I like to call the perfect roasted chicken. Keep reading after the jump for the full recipe. File as mouth-wateringly delicious.

Edited: Happy Feet.
Although I may not be putting on my dancing shoes this weekend (more important than my dance or Bieber fever is my fever to find a job) I hope that you all have a fabulous weekend doing whatever your heart (or your feet) desires! File as happy weekend to all!

She does.
To make up for my lack of party posts lately (I have been cooped up studying and job hunting instead of dreaming up lavish parties) I figured that I would go all-out for this weekend and give you a party post to drool over for the next few days. Well, maybe it's not the party that I would imagine for myself, but this one is especially for my newly engaged friend over at Alison Reid Style. She has been sending me ideas over non-stop (she makes planning so much more fun than it ever should be) and I thought no better way to help her out a touch than by making up an inspiration board just for her. Keep reading after the jump for more details! File as no bridezilla here.

Saturated.
Even though I may not be the biggest color conspirator out there, (a friend once told me that nude could not be my favorite color because it isn't a color) I have been trying to bring a little more brightness into my looks- both in the closet and around the home. And what better way to do so than with saturated pops of color that mix in with even the most basic of neutrals. Whether it's a yellow mustard bedspread (LOVE) or a magenta suede chair, you cannot go wrong with these brights. Ok, now I'm going to have to rethink this all nude outfit I'm currently wearing as well as my black and white bedroom...File as uplifting!

It Girl: Kate Lanphear.
Kate may just be the name of the moment, but today there is one more style-setting Kate to add to the list. This Kate is the Senior Style Editor at US Elle but held positions at Vogue Australia and Harper's Bazaar (in both Australia and the US) before landing the coveted Elle position. One thing that I can't get enough of is how true to her own style this Kate is- edgy, androgynous and punk with touches of glamour (take those Christian Louboutin fringe booties or those little skirts she rocks.) Rarely photographed in a color other than black, white or grey, this It Girl just goes to show that you don't mess with a good thing. Fear her, you should. File under hardcore.

Palau Now.
Even though it's the end of the summer, I'm still craving one last trip to paradise to sun myself on the beach and simply enjoy doing absolutely nothing. Well, OK, maybe not absolutely nothing, but doing things that don't involve dirty dishes, a leaky washing machine or the Internet (even I need a break sometimes) And this place, might just be the ticket. Palau, located somewhere in the Philippines Sea think Northeast of the Celebes Sea, Southwest of Guam or way west of Hawaii. You get the picture, it's secluded and untouched by throngs of tourists. So grab your scuba gear and take a virtual vacation with me. Keep reading after the jump to see a quick itinerary and the perfect outfit for it all. File under getaway.
Open Sesame.
I am just happy as a clam today. I don't know if it was the afternoon breakfast with two girlfriends, the early morning wakeup call from my newly engaged friend or the lovely mini (window) shopping trip in Berkeley, but I am feeling quite content with this Monday (strange I know.) Even though most Mondays are spent in the classroom or frantically studying for my next test, I am now officially graduated and on the job hunt! So what better way to honor this next chapter in my life than with these gorgeous painted doors. I won't rehash that old metaphor here because I'm pretty sure we've all heard the door one, but just because this new door is opening, doesn't mean it can't be a fantastically painted one at that. File as moving forward.
