-Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2012-

As I'm sure you very well know by now, nothing gets my heart aflutter quite like haute couture fashion week (well maybe a pair of Topshop shoes as well) but it is this fabulous week that the creme-de-la-creme of couturiers come out to play....not to mention the leagues of editrexes, fashionistas and bloggers that come out of hiding to bask in the best that fashion has to offer. Can you feel my excitement through the computer? I mean really, and with Giambattista Valli's show complete with butterflies, the newest it accessory aka the hairnet (stay tuned for more of that) and flowers (whether in prints or in 3D) exploding from every look I just couldn't get enough. File as garden delights.

ApartmentPhile: My Next Place Option I.

Even though I may not have a place of my own just quite yet (fingers crossed that I can afford something in the next few months)...a girl can dream! And I am definitely one who loves apartments and all their quirks- hence the new ApartmentPhile post label. So over the next few weeks, I wanted to share some of the apartment design styles that I've been throwing around (virtually of course) one of which will make it into my next tiny-ass apartment. The style featured below may be equal bits rustic, glam, chic and industrial but it makes a very big statement with just a simple color palette. File as hard chic, option one.

Fendi Fall 2012.

Although I may be feeling less than warrior-like this week (already being beaten down by a whole lot of work) Fendi's fall collection is just the thing to bring me right back up. Filled with avatar-inspired looks (or should we say that Hunger Games-inspired now?) and fur aplenty, being tough never looked so chic. File as fight on.

Proenza Schouler Fall 2012.

If there is one collection that fits perfectly with my mood today it would have to be that of Proenza Schouler. For their fall runway presentation, it was all about protection (the martial arts inspired shapes), contemplating their beginnings (those bird embellishments referenced their first breakout collection) and experimenting in new territory (brocades are a first for them.) Having just sealed my status as a newly single lady, I can't imagine any other fall collection in its entirety at NYFW that would make me feel more fierce to put on in the morning than Proenza. File as obsessed.

Coveting: Snake Charmer.

Of all the trends I've witnessed this fall, there is none that I am more excited for than colored snakeskin. Don't get me wrong- I've always been a fan of snakeskin among others (PETA be damned) but this season I am completely charmed by brightly colored snakeskin, particularly in the form of accessories. Take for example the Zara shoes I was not-so-delighted to realize that the San Francisco store does not have in my size, the Miu Miu bag featured in Vogue Daily a few weeks ago or the Marc Jacobs bangles that would so love to join any arm party. I am definitely coveting each and every one of these items. Whether shown on the runway at Gucci or Prada, or underneath the arm of a style maven such as Ashley Olsen, I cannot stop dreaming about these brights. File under obsession.

Art Eye: Eccentric Glamour.

Simon Doonan of Barney's New York has always been quite the eccentric Brit, and it's no wonder that him and husband Jonathan Adler are so in love. I mean, could you imagine the conversations they have about style? Passions aside, this limited-edition print (available for purchase ranging from $25 to $1000 depending on the size) is the cover art of Doonan's personal style-guide Eccentric Glamour, one that I'll have to pick up next time I'm at the bookstore. File under fabulous.

Art Eye.

For the inaugural post of my weekly art series I wanted to begin with an artist who captured beautiful images that are irresistible. Meet Sharon Montrose, a Los Angeles based photographer who is well-known for her adorable portraits of animals, both domesticated and wild. I've completely fallen in love with both the Baby Monkey No. 6 and Baby Giraffe No. 5. Even better, she has high-quality prints available starting at $20. Click here to see more of her work and order them before they all sell out. File this one under awesome gift.
