Thoughts on Shuz.

Closet update is in full swing - hellooooo Poshmarkers - but that doesn't mean I can't take a peep at what's out there to replace my soon-to-be much emptier closet. It's true: good shoes take you good places. Let's shop.

Zippers just require an extra step in the laborious process of putting on shoes - and I always end of leaving mine down anyways.

Mulling over these Isabel Marants again. I know they're sooooo 2012 but seriously fuck trends ya'll.

Stretchy, preferably suede(y), low heeled and with a slightly pointed toe ... you. are. it.

Pinky Promise.

I recently told my best friend that I wanted to wear a bright rosy pink dress to her wedding and while I instantly cringed waiting for her (text) response, I was shocked to receive a resounding yasssssss (almost exact words) from her ...maybe included a few (ok a lot of) emojis. Than it got me thinking: why have I had this aversion to pink (or most colors for that matter) of late? Buying the dress, wearing it loud and proud, YOLO. File as color bomb.

Home is Where the Heart Is.

One of the projects that I feel I'm always tragically failing at has to be to bring more art into my home. While my last two places in Berkeley each had their own rotating gallery walls and a few DIY hangings, this newer (and by new I mean I've lived here for almost 14 months now...) place didn't quite get the same wall art love. I've put up a few finds from Melrose Trading Post, but it's still not the curated collection that I've dreamt it to be.

And with Valentine's day right around the corner (hashtag treating self) I'm feeling totally inspired to add a few more pieces to my walls. Whether it be one of the perfectly adorable art prints from Minted (fave new find for when you're feeling Etsy-ed out) or a 3 dimensional DIY install like the heart above (via Minted's equally lovely blog Julep) it'll be the perfect way to show my place a little love. File as home, sugar.

Update Nothing, Impress No One.

Yeah, yeah it's been a while since I've posted here. Chalk it up to the fact that I've moved on to a new role with the insanely-just-a-smidge-too-cool-for-me Malibu-based company Planet Blue and have spent the majority of my weekends unplugging from my digital domain. Seriously upping my game as I type... As always though, I had to come back if not just to share what I'm currently obsessing over (and have been pinning like mad.) File under see you around more often.

After a terrible haircut over Thanksgiving break that's literally scarred me for life (actual time: until it grows out) I'm tempted to do something drastic. Good luck trying to talk me out of this one.

Paris is always a good idea. The only question is how much willpower I have to save and not spend pre-getaway.

As a notorious nail biter (natch, only when my anxiety is high) nail art has never really been my thing. But maybe the promise of artfully designed nails will curb my habit.

There comes a time every year when I want to completely redecorate my surroundings. The time is nigh.

Just couldn't resist this one. #firstworldproblems

Worst Dressed Is The Best.

I didn't even realize the Emmy's were actually happening until circa a few hours ago (I don't have a TV so it's not that surprising) and while I could use this space here to rant about how so fucking boring award show red carpets have become (best dressed/worst dressed snore), I'd rather dream about an outfit that I could only imagine walking at the LA-award show circuit. File as maybe one day ...maybe.

Let's Talk About Pins, Baby.

Let's talk about the Pin Binge I've been on recently. Like really, I feel like I need to join a support group for pin sinners. But what can I say? It's the perfect place to store all my future plans (and by that I mean travel mostly) not to mention where I can seed endless amounts of inspo for work and other projects. I've fallen into the hole that is Pinterest and I don't want to get out. File as 12 steps.

Current Obsessions: California Adventure.

Confession: I used to constantly make fun of one of my closest friends (#sorrynotsorry) for wearing his stinky Birkenstocks circa high school with literally every outfit and to places where sandals are definitely not considered shoes (at least for dudes) until I shamed him so much that he was compelled to change into a less offensive shoe when he was around me. Fast forward a few years later, and I'm totally lusting for a pair of Birks of my own. (Trust me, he was the first to know of this new obsession as well as the first to support me.). And with the new ugly shoe resurgence (thanks Refinery 29 for this article) I'm feeling like I'm definitely not alone in the universe. So adding to my grunge wishlist will have to be a pair of black on black stocks. Now if only I had the modern Santa Monica compound to go with it - aren't they one and the same? File as one day.

UPDATE: Stop the presses, even more support of Birkenstocks has emerged!! ...feeling a little behind the trend at this moment. But really, I don't give two hoots. Hashtag time to go shopping.

Insta-Files: Stylist Dilemma.

I wish I could count the number of times I've bought something and then instantly wondered what the eff was I thinking. Newest purchase to make me question my judgement is this H&M beauty from their conscious collection (and by newest purchase I mean 2-months ago new). Granted I love a good blazer/jacket/coat, but this one has been hanging around practically mocking my mostly laid-back/casual closet. I'm gonna need to figure out a way to work this with some super-destroyed light skinny denim ASAP. Although it could turn into one of those pieces that I don't wear for months and randomly pull it out for it to become my new favorite (and most thankful) past-purchase. File under stay tuned.

Fall/Winter/Spring.

I've been hearing a lot lately about this phenomenon called transitional dressing. Since weather in Los Angeles is almost perennially summer, I haven't had to deal with such nonsense; however now that I'm jetting to NYC in a few weeks and it's about negative thirty degrees there (actual forecast in the 20s) I've got my work cut out for me. Ideally, I'd like to bring all the same items that I'd rock in LA, just maybe with three parkas piled on top. Black booties, a printed pant, and an easy tee are exactly what the doctor ordered. Now I just need to find a super fabulous coat (maybe something fur?) to top it off with. File as let the hunt begin.

Pick Your Side: Margiela vs. Hello Kitty.

Which one will you be attending tonight? Lucky for me, I'll be at the Forever 21 at Americana which is hosting the Hello Kitty launch party and which also neighbors to H&M. File as sneaky, sneaky.

Recap: FNO at Beverly Center.

As I'm sure you all know, FNO this year was totes maj. From the freebies, to the GWPs, the mocktails and the cocktails there was fun to be had by all. Bloggers, celebs, models and more were out and about at Beverly Center and beyond to celebrate the ultimate shopping night and lucky for me, only one party-goer had the same F21 Exclusive Collection black and white chevron dress on as me (well, not technically a party-goer, but rather one of the gals walking in the exclusive Forever 21 fashion show). Although I was expecting some kind of catastrophic disaster that night (i.e. DJ playing Tyga's "Make it Nasty", photo booth falling over and crushing infants, models heads exploding, etc.) the event went on without a single hitch. Not only that, but I was so thrilled to see all the familiar faces out to support (#GoTeamForever). So with the bosses happy and wallet still full of money (couldn't even take a break to shop that night) I promise not the utter those three little letters for the next few months...seriously. File as let fashion week begin.

Insta-Files: Martin Mania.

Another Sunday funday spent at the Melrose Trading Post with my dearest friend, Melody, here in LA (and not just any Sunday, but her birthday; YAY!) Although I was short on the cash this time around, I've got my eye on some pieces once my bank account reaches a more manageable amount. Melrose Trading Post vendors, you've been warned. File as happy Sunday, loves.

It's Friday Friends.

It's Friday again, and what a few weeks it has been. Both New York and London fashion weeks have wrapped, Milan fashion week is in full swing and Paris should be hosting shortly. Not only on the fashion news front, but I have been caught in my own personal whirlwind due mostly to my never-ending job hunt, trying to keep up with old friends in town, another friend's impending engagement party, planning my family's Christmas vacation and attempting to not have my kitchen (or my closet for that matter) look like a bomb exploded there. I hope you all have some fabulous weekend plans for yourselves, I'll be spending mine shopping with the above mentioned friend, cleaning out (or maybe just cleaning up) my closet and attending a film screening to support my Berkeley bears. I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Stay tuned for a delicious recipe for the still-warm California weather, more updates from London and Milan fashion week(s) and maybe even a home decor post thrown in there for good measure. File as weekend time loves!

Get Lost in Venice.

Venice is a fabulous place to completely lose yourself in and is the perfect getaway I could imagine for this weekend. I was there for only a day and my plans were delayed a bit because of a summer rainstorm, but it really was one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It made me realize that boats are a much sexier mode of transportation than cars. Don’t even bother trying to use a map; the best way to explore the city is to just get lost. Check out my to-do list after the jump. File under go before it disappears.
