SF or Bust.

Another weekend...another getaway. Yep, that's right, I'm jetting off again this weekend. Not to the desert this time, but rather to my old hometown- the Bay Area! I'll be staying at the cutest (and rather Hitchcock famous) boutique hotel just a stone's throw from Union Square, spending time with some of my best friends and doing all the fabulous San Francisco things I can think of. A few of which definitely include checking out the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the de Young, stopping at one of my favorite old theaters to catch a movie, eating my body weight in fresh crab, making a pit stop at the to-die-for H&M on Powell Street and of course making a trip to Tartine Bakery. Until Monday! File as love this city.

Birthday Wishes.

To my dear friend Emily (who is just one of my beautiful friends who has a birthday this weekend) who is probably the single reason why I had entirely too much fun the last six months I was living in Berkeley, and who made even the most boring of Monday nights fab! Although I couldn't bake a cake for her today (since I'm in LA now, duh) this virtual one will have to suffice. Today is for you Emily, you are the most intelligent, gorgeous and hilarious chick I know...and you happen to make a mean al dente pasta dinner, without even using a timer. Happy birthday, love! File as enjoy.

My Elizabeth Taylor.

For jewel devotees and pop-culture followers alike this week is one to be remembered. That's right, it's Christie's week-long auction of the estate of Elizabeth Taylor, a woman whom I will always remember from a little chuckle I had with a (then-)boyfriend while standing in front of her engagement ring at the Cartier exhibition at San Francisco's De Young Museum a few years ago. He, after shockingly expressing his interest to tag along, seemed unimpressed by the size of the ring (one of the last pieces in the exhibition mind you) and felt it necessary for me to hold my finger up next to it just to prove his point. While the ring fetched somewhere around $7mill. at the auction block tonight, I still stand by my assertion that it was pretty sizable rock.

Speaking of which, you can stay tuned all week (like yours truly) and watch live on Christie's website to get in on all the auction action. Although Ms. Taylor may be gone, one things for sure- this woman had a seriously, insanely gorgeous collection of baubles. File as sparkle, sparkle.

Today: Missoni for Target.

So in case you've been living under a rock that doesn't get good cell or internet reception (my apartment could count except it's four stories up) MISSONI is at Target today. Long before I traveled to Rome, Milan and everywhere else in between last year, I fell in love with the brand that is MISSONI. I'm not sure if it's the Italian heritage, the importance on family or the exquisite fabrics that make a piece quintessentially MISSONI, but I am sure that I need all of their 400+ pieces for Target in my shopping cart, right now. I would say head to your nearest store, but after watching grown women tear apart my two nearest Target stores like they were on fire gives me little hope that there is anything left at any of them. EBay to you! File as when in Rome.

A Day at the Museum.

Today I'm feeling terribly inspired, probably in part because of the CFDA Awards yesterday, my visit to SFMOMA and a last-minute movie with an old friend to the totally charming Midnight in Paris (go see  immediately, if not sooner.) This week I'll be putting together some fabulous new posts inspired by my Monday Funday including best dressed from the CFDA Awards, a limited edition print you'll be dying to pick up, the best of the resort collections for 2012 (traveling into the future for this one), my current home decor obsession as well as more on the totally overwhelming Stein exhibit at the museum. Ok so there is quite a lot coming up this week, but what can I say...I really was that inspired! Check out the postcards I picked up from the gift shop above and file this one as stay tuned.

Edited: Anchors Away.

There is nothing I'd rather do on this particularly warm Sunday than take a boat out in the San Francisco bay and attempt to be just as glamorous as Georgina Stojiljkovic in this fantastic scuba inspired shoot for Elle Sweden's June 2011 issue. Although I'm not sure I'd be able to catch any fish on my imaginary boat, there would be plenty of real time to stop at the Embarcadero on the way back for some just-caught steamed crab and freshly stewed clam chowder at the pier, one of the many awesome perks of living near the Bay. File under very fishy.
