Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey.

Fantasy:

Reality:

Don't you just wish that Monday's could be less hectic and more, well, glamorously leisurely. Is that even grammatically correct? Eff it, it's Monday.

The Weekenders: Seattle.

Fresh catch of the day | The market aka heaven | The most amazing view from the hotel

Stuffing my face with Tom Douglas doughnuts (from Dahlia Bakery) | Another city view from the hotel

Today I am totally having a case of the Mondays. Yes, I know it's Tuesday (right?) but I just got back from my quick weekend trip to Seattle- complete with a very handsome gentleman, out-of-this-world delicious food, and only a spot of rain to boot. With my trusty traveling pleather pants (his moniker for them), embellished camo jacket (see here) and over-the-knee riding boots in tow I had the chance to explore Pike Place Market, some of the local shops (i.e. Nordstrom) and catch the new 'Seven Psychopaths' at the most adorable hidden theater I think I've ever laid eyes on. Romantic, lovely and totally perfect; I am craving another getaway already. File as smitten.

Celebration Station.

Wonderful, amazing, spectacular news that I officially want to break today to the world (this is my version of shouting it from the rooftops): I've just accepted a new position within Forever 21, finally found an apartment that is the perfect fit, and am spending this weekend in Seattle to celebrate with someone that I maybe, might-be, majorly crushing on. Seriously, what is going on?! I think that my mind is still in shock-mode from getting the surprise of my career the Monday I returned from Montreal and was offered a role that I only ever dreamed of having. (My father believes that I should get a part-time gig to go along with it since according to him blogging and instagramming is "not a real job.") But that doesn't overshadow the roller-coaster ride of apartment hunting for the last oh, 6 months (actual time, 3 weeks) and, the fact that I finally found a place that doesn't make me want to hurl. So, this weekend I'll be celebrating with some old friends, and a few new ones in Seattle, taking a break from all the LA sunshine and enjoying all the perks of my Heavenly Bed. File as somebody pinch me.

P.S. Stay tuned for lots and lots of home decor posts while I decorate my new abode!

Laters, Baby.

I'm up, up and away yet again this extra-long weekend. Not to a land far, far away, but rather back to the Bay Area. To complete the year-long celebration better known as my best friend's wedding (!!!!!!) there will be, what I'm imagining, the most beautiful extravaganza I have ever laid eyes on. She may be my best friend, but she is also the girl who inspired me to create this blog and for that, I am forever grateful to her! Follow me on instagram @TheMargaretFile and on Twitter @MaggieMurrieta for updates on all the fabulousness. File as adios amigos.

I've Done a Bad, Bad Thing.

Ok, I'm sorry! Well wait, I think I'd like to change that to sorry I'm not sorry! Kidding! But seriously this past week for me has literally gone by in a flash. Although I couldn't seem to find the time to do a blog post last week, I was having a rather lovely week enjoying the Olympics, catching up on sleep, and making plans to see some old friends in the near future. But, after a coworker pointed out that since I've started working with the company my blog posts have decreased by half per month, I knew something had to change. So I'm here to say that I'm back! Stay tuned for some fabulous posts over the next few weeks. File as going for gold.

SF or Bust.

Another weekend...another getaway. Yep, that's right, I'm jetting off again this weekend. Not to the desert this time, but rather to my old hometown- the Bay Area! I'll be staying at the cutest (and rather Hitchcock famous) boutique hotel just a stone's throw from Union Square, spending time with some of my best friends and doing all the fabulous San Francisco things I can think of. A few of which definitely include checking out the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the de Young, stopping at one of my favorite old theaters to catch a movie, eating my body weight in fresh crab, making a pit stop at the to-die-for H&M on Powell Street and of course making a trip to Tartine Bakery. Until Monday! File as love this city.

Insta-Files: Summertime.

Spending entirely too much time making my blog all fancy, super-fresh issues of Vogue, finding old embarrassing pictures (#CrazyCatLady), and swatches for bridesmaid's dresses? You bet yer booty it's summertime. Hope everyone is enjoying this extra long weekend, and instagramming it all for evidence tomorrow. File as until Tuesday.

Insta-Files: Tough Stuff.

My weekend? Filled with mint Gap Body bralettes, creating new blog posts and pouring over the Chanel Resort collection (stay tuned for its fabulousness), hanging out with the best roommate ever (Sir Leo Jones) and of course...having to decide which pair of Jeffrey Campbell wedge sneakers to return to Nasty Gal. Torture. File as happy weekend, loves.

TGIF: Prada Style.

How does that song go again? Oh yes, let me remind you...it's Friday! Friday! Friday! (Hate me yet?) But seriously...It. Is. Friday. I have had quite the week (just like everyone else has, I'm sure) and the only thing I want to do right now is curl up in my bed and spend the entire weekend right there. The fact that I designed this post well before Friday (Monday night to be exact) just goes to show how much I've been looking forward to this weekend. So kick up your heels (Prada or not) and have a grand ol' time this weekend, whether you're staying in (like yours truly) or going all out. File as Friday, loves!

Birthday Wishes.

So excited to have another friend's birthday this weekend! If only I could afford the plane ticket to spend it with both of them. I'm sensing a weekend getaway to NYC next year with both of them, hint hint... But regardless, I want to wish a very special day to Alison at Alison Reid Style, who is not only my favorite gal pal (and one that I know will always let me crash on her couch), but also the person who single handedly inspired me to create this blog! Without her support, I never would have done it. So I want to thank her, not only for being someone that I look up to for the best advice ever, but also being strong, beautiful, kind and of course very successful at whatever she puts her mind to! I hope you have a gorgeous Sunday, lady and of course an amazing year (enjoy it all!) File as cheers.

Decisions, decisions.

Why is nail color always so difficult to choose? My favorite right now has to be the nude, but that mint would be the perfect pop for this Easter Weekend. I hope everyone has a lovely time this weekend, whether it is extended or not (I would fall under the latter category) and whether you're spending time with friends and family (that'd be me!) or just curling up on the couch to spend a little quality time with yourself. One thing for sure is that I'll be repainting my nails this weekend...now if only I could pick just one color. File as tough one.

No. 21 Fall 2012.

Since I've been neglecting my blog this past week, I wanted to start the weekend off right! No. 21 for fall is just what I needed after my very busy week at work. Now, time to have a little fun and maybe throw a little jewel in my hair for good measure. File as happy Friday!

My Apologies...

So these past few days have been seriously busy for me- job hunting earlier in the week, my dear friend coming to visit me as well (and who still hasn't left...we are having so much fun I plan on keeping her hostage for a while) and not to mention some last minute projects that had me occupied for the last three days. I looked at the calendar today and couldn't believe that it was already the 10th. I'm not sure where the beginning of the month went. But alas, I wanted to check in and let you know that I'll be back to my normal self come Monday (my friend does have to leave for a job up North) with tons of fab posts, including NYFW collections! Until then, stay tuned for a few weekend posts to keep you distracted...and very hungry, too! File as happy weekend, loves.

Eats: Monterey Chicken.

I know, I know, It's Super Bowl Sunday and I should be sharing a recipe that would be the perfect item to add to your appetizer party tray; however, I am not particularly a football fan (I'll take basketball or hockey please) plus I find that for these things, the chips and grilled meats are always the first to go. In my belief, today is not a day for fancy-shmancy little appetizers. So instead, I want to show you how to make a super quick main course- full of flavor, simple to prepare and ready in a flash- my version of Monterey chicken. Because once the game is over, you're going to need something to wake up your palette. Keep reading after the jump to see the full recipe. File as yum-oh.

Eats: French Onion Soup.

There is nothing I love more than a hearty bowl of soup when I'm feeling low. To say I've been rather stressed lately would be a bit of an understatement (my job search has proved less than fruitful so far) and the only thing I want to do this weekend is recharge my batteries, start my new book, avoid my computer and make a big ol' crock pot of soup. Since I just finished Julia Child's My Life in France (which I highly recommend), French Onion Soup is just the ticket for a low-kinda Sunday. Oh, and my new book is also about another French-culture icon, Miss Coco Chanel (go figure.) My love affair continues! Click below to see the whole recipe and file as noms.

Beach Bum Friday.

I spent my Friday walking along the beach with my new roommate Mr. Leo Jones (he is a wire-haired Jack Russell terrier and oh, so cute) and plan to spend my weekend exploring around my new personal headquarters of Los Angeles. Hope you enjoy your weekend, wherever it is you'll be exploring!

Eats: Fried Mozzarella Sticks.

I have a love affair with just about any food that is dipped in breadcrumbs and fried to a delicious golden brown. Case in point- mozzarella sticks. Until about a month ago it never dawned on me that I could actually fry my own cheesy sticks of wonder instead of purchasing those sad looking brand-name frozen mozzarella sticks on my monthly Target trip. So I enlisted the help of a friend who had never deep fried anything in her life (blind leading the blind, not the best plan I admit) and was completely surprised at how simple, fresh and crunchy these little guys came out (without scarring ourselves with any hot oil.) These are just the thing for your next cocktail party. Keep reading after the jump for the complete recipe and file as more, please.
