Worst Dressed Is The Best.

I didn't even realize the Emmy's were actually happening until circa a few hours ago (I don't have a TV so it's not that surprising) and while I could use this space here to rant about how so fucking boring award show red carpets have become (best dressed/worst dressed snore), I'd rather dream about an outfit that I could only imagine walking at the LA-award show circuit. File as maybe one day ...maybe.

Recap: FNO at Beverly Center.

As I'm sure you all know, FNO this year was totes maj. From the freebies, to the GWPs, the mocktails and the cocktails there was fun to be had by all. Bloggers, celebs, models and more were out and about at Beverly Center and beyond to celebrate the ultimate shopping night and lucky for me, only one party-goer had the same F21 Exclusive Collection black and white chevron dress on as me (well, not technically a party-goer, but rather one of the gals walking in the exclusive Forever 21 fashion show). Although I was expecting some kind of catastrophic disaster that night (i.e. DJ playing Tyga's "Make it Nasty", photo booth falling over and crushing infants, models heads exploding, etc.) the event went on without a single hitch. Not only that, but I was so thrilled to see all the familiar faces out to support (#GoTeamForever). So with the bosses happy and wallet still full of money (couldn't even take a break to shop that night) I promise not the utter those three little letters for the next few months...seriously. File as let fashion week begin.

Best Dressed at the Met Ball 2012.

I must say that my days this week have really been lacking in the glamour department. Just last weekend, I had a feeling that I was right on the edge of a major style slump (this self-imposed "budget" is killing me), when blam (totally just yelled this is my head) The Met Gala hit! (Relive last years by clicking here.) 

Although my daily work wear doesn't fall anywhere close to what the fab ladies above are wearing, it's definitely given me the push to stop wearing my go-to J Brand jeans every. single. day. But the real debate around the office (not involving my inability to pick a cute outfit this week) has been who was deserving of the best dressed title at this years Met Ball. Best Dressed: Oscars 2012.

Sorry it took me like a year to get to this! Well, OK, maybe it took more like a few days, but I am practically bursting to share with you my best dressed from the Oscars on Sunday night. I would say that Emma Stone the second time around in Chanel was best dressed for the night, but I seriously cannot get over Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton or Stacy Keibler in Marchesa (totally knew someone would wear it, but was thinking it was a little closer to Jennifer Lopez's style.) Can I also just mention that I guessed right that the red ruffled pre-fall Valentino gown would be worn on the Oscar red carpet (the Vanity Fair party is close enough!) Just had to toot my own horn for a second there. File as four way tie.

Best Dressed: SAG Awards 2012.

Even though I wasn't able to watch the awards (only super-basic cable here) I was able to see all the red carpet action, which let's face it, is usually the most exciting portion of the award shows nowadays. And some of my favorite looks sashayed fresh from the couture presentations (just last week) right onto the red carpet: Givenchy, Giambattista Valli, Alexander McQueen and one of my newer favorites Zac Posen all made quite the appearances. Now, although I wanted to see Emma in a different Alexander McQueen pre-fall dress (see my request on a previous post) she wasn't my favorite of the night. 10 Best Dressed: Golden Globes 2012.

Red carpet season is always an event in my household and the ladies walking down the red carpet at the Golden Globes were no disappointment this year. Although there were many sure things, lots of mermaid trains and many dresses that were curvy in all the right places, there was only one that made me gasp for all the right reasons. Tilda Swinton- the woman who usually turns up in something the critics hate yet the fashion crowd celebrates- pleased both masses with her periwinkle Haider Ackermann ensemble which made me a believer in this it-designer of the moment. But that's not to say that Jessica in Elie Saab, Charlize in Dior or Julianne in Chanel (all couture, mind you) weren't close contenders for best dressed. File as drama-rama.

Best Dressed CFDA Awards.

This year's CFDA Awards came and went without even a blip on the pop culture radar, but there were a few ladies who most certainly stood out on the purple carpet. Here you can check out my top five who prove that wearing whatever you're most comfortable in is always the best way to go (unless that means wearing a track suit on the red carpet, in which case I would not recommend!) Best Dressed MTV Movie Awards.

I remember watching MTV non-stop while I was a kid (Singled Out or Made, anyone?) and although their new programming doesn't exactly appeal to me personally (sorry Teen Mom and Jersey Shore) there is never a red carpet I wouldn't want to pass up. So when I was notified that the MTV Movie Awards were here again I couldn't help but join in the young Hollywood festivities. So here, mere moments after the red carpet has been rolled up are the best dressed of the night. Now how is that for fresh? Best Dressed Cannes Film Festival.

The Cannes Film Festival continues to be one of the most over-the-top, all out glamorous film festivals in the world. I mean, how often do you wear your biggest ball gown to go see a movie? And what I love about the whole event, not only the great new movies that come out of it, but also the fresh fashion that struts down all the red carpets that week. From a feathery fun Pucci frock to showcase Anja Rubik's perfect limbs to Janet Jackson's curve hugging Ackermann confection or the strategic cutouts of Giovanna Battaglia's barely-there dress these eight ladies know exactly how to show off their best assets. Best Dressed Oscar Night.

Some fashion choices are easily forgotten the next week, but when it comes to the Oscars, celebrities don’t get off that easily. A critically awful dress can follow an actress around well into the next year. Obviously so, the red carpet gowns these ladies choose bear enormous weight. I’m not a huge fan of worst dressed lists; to me they are dreadful because individuality in fashion is something that I believe should be celebrated, but more of that later. Here, I’ve chosen my top ten looks of Oscar night, including any other red carpets that were rolled out that same night. Keep reading after the jump for a breakdown of each look. Oscar Gold.

With the Oscars coming up tomorrow, I thought it fitting to focus on the black-tie gowns that us mortals wear on only a few occasions in our lives. (Count em, prom and weddings are all we have.) Yet, the fashion world and the commercial red carpet have long been at odds with one another. Most high fashion critics find the gowns to be too safe, bland and pageant like while the tabloids will rip a celebrity to shreds over one that is too "avant-garde."

But today I'd like to propose a cease fire between the two, if not for just a few hours tomorrow. Let me introduce Marchesa, a name synonymous with the red carpet and all-out Hollywood glamour. Georgina Chapman and Karen Craig have been creating outstanding gowns that defy gravity and challenge the tired strapless princess gown for the past few seasons while in the meantime outfitting some very lucky celebs. And with Harvey Weinstein (the mega-producer) as Chapman's husband, there is no doubt that Marchesa will be able to produce some pure Oscar gold for the ladies who wear it.
