Edited: The Woods.

Although I may have just gotten back from a cabin set deep in the woods around Lake Tahoe, my mind still feels stuck there. I'm not sure my year could have started any better than with a weekend full of super silent nights, warm fires to curl up with a book near and great friends to indulge our inner children with (yes, there were Nerf guns involved.) Not to mention that I was without internet or phone either. But now that I'm back (and moving down to Los Angeles in a few days) it's time to kick my butt into gear and make good on the resolutions that I'll be sharing with you over this week! Happy new year to all! File as still dreaming.

The List.

It's my last full day in New York, and I am ready to explore everything I haven't been able to this past week. It may be a full day, but I have a feeling it will be totally worth it. File as another Monday!

Ho, Ho, Ho.

Wishing everyone a very merry holiday weekend! I'll be spending mine with my family in NYC- walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, checking out the Christmas lights and maybe doing a little shopping along the way. I think it's fairly obvious that the only church I'll be worshipping tonight in is the church of fashion. Wherever you decide to worship, I hope everyone enjoys their weekend as much as I will! File as cheers.

Dream a Little Dream for Me.

Room Service.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous holiday and enjoying all the festivities that happen at this time of year. I am currently battling a rather intense case of jet-lag over in New York. Something that I hope will go away once I load up on my breakfast in bed of coffee, a bite of something sweet over at Sant Ambroeus and a walk around the Met...and maybe a few vintage shops afterwards. That is, if I can ever emerge from this comfy bed. File as indulge.

Catch Me If You Can.

And I'm off into the air...to a family holiday in New York of course. My bags are packed (chock full of cozy sweaters and boots not to mention my new favorite faux-leather pants,) my sleep-mask is ready and waiting atop my head for a very long trans-national nap and my travel planning is done (I am the designated travel guide in my family, not surprisingly.) Now it's time to just relax (at least for a few hours) before all the real fun starts. File as up and away.

Fine Dining.

Today is my dear friend's birthday, and in honor of the delicious French restaurant that we will be celebrating at (I would reveal it but it's still a secret) I figured no better way than to share these fabulous plates I stumbled upon some time ago. Although I wouldn't dare eat off them (they're too cute and silly) they would definitely make for a quirky decoration up on the wall, like my mom used to do with her fancy plates. Hope everyone enjoys this Sunday as much as my stomach will! File as chintz.

Edited: Kick Up Your Heels.

Kick up your heels ladies, it's the weekend! And not only is it my final weekend living in the Bay Area, but it is also my dear friend's birthday to boot. So it looks like I'll be all over the Bay for the next few days, enjoying my last weekend before jetting off for a family holiday in New York and finishing this year off right. I hope you all will do the same! File as cheers.

My Elizabeth Taylor.

For jewel devotees and pop-culture followers alike this week is one to be remembered. That's right, it's Christie's week-long auction of the estate of Elizabeth Taylor, a woman whom I will always remember from a little chuckle I had with a (then-)boyfriend while standing in front of her engagement ring at the Cartier exhibition at San Francisco's De Young Museum a few years ago. He, after shockingly expressing his interest to tag along, seemed unimpressed by the size of the ring (one of the last pieces in the exhibition mind you) and felt it necessary for me to hold my finger up next to it just to prove his point. While the ring fetched somewhere around $7mill. at the auction block tonight, I still stand by my assertion that it was pretty sizable rock.

Speaking of which, you can stay tuned all week (like yours truly) and watch live on Christie's website to get in on all the auction action. Although Ms. Taylor may be gone, one things for sure- this woman had a seriously, insanely gorgeous collection of baubles. File as sparkle, sparkle.

It Girl: Stephanie LaCava.

At first glance of the pictures above, it seems as if there are two It Girls for this week- one blond and another red-headed- but make no doubt about it this It Girl for is quite the chameleon. Whether flame or fair-haired, this writer, socialite and vintage-devotee has a look that can go from flirty to edgy and back again to simply chic. But it was Stephanie's rebellious side that initially drove me to find this fashionista- specifically those custom-made ankle cuffs from a previous post titled Just One More Pair... If there is one thing she knows how to do it is to always make a serious fashion statement earning her the title of It Girl for the week. Don't forget to follow Stephanie on Twitter and file this under major.

Eats: Crostini.

Now that the holidays are here, it's always good to have a few simple bites to throw together when guests decide to drop by at the last minute (lately I have been one of those types of guests.) But still, you can never be too prepared when it comes to little treats whether they're meant for guests or just a savory midnight snack. These ricotta, walnut and pear crostini do just the trick and look rather fancy even though they just contain five easy to find ingredients. Keep reading after the jump to check out the full recipe (which is probably the easiest one I will ever post) and enjoy these next time you're in the mood for something quick and delicious. File as eat it up.

Jenni Kayne Pre-Fall 2012.

I just couldn't help myself from giving you a second dose of the pre-fall runway, and this time it's Jenni Kayne who has quite possibly one of the most easy to wear collections I've seen so far this season. I know I would definitely love to see any of these items in my closet right now, especially those fur pieces and that shocking blue maxi skirt. Happy Saturday to all! File as ready to wear.

Thakoon Pre-Fall 2012.

Saying that Thakoon's pre-fall collection was a bit of a departure from his spring 2012 runway show would probably be the biggest understatement ever uttered on this blog. Remember just a mere weeks ago when he mixed Indian influences with cowgirl motifs and came up with something that was halfway cooky and halfway brilliant? This time around for his pre-fall collection, the focus seemed to fall on restraint, but in a way that called for interesting shapes (take that bubble-like pleated skirt or those puffed out sleeves) rather than in-your-face prints. All in all, the perfect collection to fit in between the major ones, which is sure to fly off the shelves faster than you can say pre-fall. File as new favorite.
