Beach Getaway: Uruguay.
Flower Beds.
Now that spring is here and the flowers are blooming (on campus, not near my apartment sadly) I am wanting to bring all those wonderful florals indoors, with just a little less maintenance. So instead of having to constantly clean up fallen petals and dirty water, I think I'll update my bedroom with some beautiful floral inspired accents. Although I wish I could change my headboard to that amazingly shocking bright orange (remember my love of it here) I think I'll settle for a new floral bedspread (see the second and last pictures) and perhaps some bright thrown pillows (like in the first picture) for my miniature spring update. File as update.

Edited: Bazaar Korea.

All right, so it seems like I'll be posting more fabulous editorials here because honestly there have been some rather noteworthy spreads as of late. This one comes from Harper's Bazaar Korea and features three of my favorite things- clean minimal lines, Texas-size hair and a breathtaking old home. Plus, I can never resist a great cat eye done in liquid liner. Just perfect. File under totally me.

Think Turquoise.
If I was forced to choose my favorite color out of all the many possibilities, I think turquoise would be a very strong contender. I've gone through so many years loving any shade of pink (I did make my dad paint my bedroom two different shades of it) but now I find myself drawn to much more cool shades. Case in point my turquoise iPhone cover which I can't bring myself to throw away even though it has a massive crack down the back or the turquoise Forever 21 necklace that seems to go with all of my favorite outfits. Although I think a turquoise room might be overkill (trust me, I lived in one for six months) a little pop of turquoise a la a chandelier, painted door, purse or piece of jewelry is just right to add a little interest to any look, be it in the home or on the body. Check out my absolute favorite turquoise piece that I am completely obsessed with after the jump. File this one under feeling blue.

Edited: Bazaar Hong Kong.
As you know, I'm not one for posting editorials often; however, I figured this time I would make an exception because this one was just too adorable to pass up. I am clearly obsessed with masculine influences on women (remember this week) and Asian fashion magazines (even though I have no idea what they're trying to say) so it came as no surprise that I felt compelled to post this shoot. Done by Tina Luther for Harper's Bazaar Hong Kong, I'm totally feeling the feminine/masculine mix in a playful and modern way. File this one under too cute.

Heaven Sent.
In an attempt to begin the week with a more relaxing attitude than what it currently is feeling like (hello deadlines) I figured that there would be no better way to feel more calm than by surrounding myself with easy, serene elements for the home. Let's just say that if I decorated my place like this, I would never want to get any work done. Instead I'd be too busy wondering when my next nap would be in that lovely all white bed. Although these places may seem a bit bland to some eyes, they definitely make up for a limited color palette with layered textures, innovative pieces (i.e. trashcan as a bedside table love) and that peculiar feeling of calmness. I think I could definitely use a dose of that right now. File as heavenly.

Fur Please.
There was just a slight nip in the air for the past few days (is this because of my complaint of cold weather?!) and I am realizing that I just can’t leave my place without a jacket to keep me slightly toasty. So, what better way to cover yourself then in a luxurious and decadent fur like these lovely ladies. I have my vintage rabbit fur and chunky knit jacket from Rome that I have been too petrified to wear (hello PETA and/or Berkeley hippies) but I might just bring it out of hibernation if not for the next two days. (Maybe I could get away with it in the city on my museum trek…Hm.) My internal dialogue aside, I am fascinated by these ladies who wear fur, and absolutely don’t let it wear them. File under love it or hate it.

Weekend Escape.
Another weekend is here, meaning it is time to escape for just a few days and pretend like I have not a care in the world. Realistically though, my escape this weekend will probably be into San Francisco for just a few hours to catch the Balenciaga and Spain Exhibit at the De Young and maybe even a stop into the Legion of Honor (might as well). So with my weekend filled with more schoolwork and just a touch of art fun, I encourage everyone to take their own little escape, at least for a couple hours, and spend time doing something you truly love. File under weekend.

Go Cobalt.
If there is one color that is constantly calling out my name it is cobalt blue. It can add a perfect pop to an all white room and looks especially sleek when paired with striking black lacquer. File under very cool.

Current Look.
There are some looks that just seem to stick with you, and after finding this picture almost a year ago I find myself referring to it again and again when searching for a go-to spring outfit. Mix one flirty spring dress with a men’s oxford or penny loafer, sprinkle on an oversized blazer (if it’s a man’s one you get extra points), let you hair down and you have what is to me one of my top two spring looks. (Remember the first one here). Done and done. Could dressing be any easier? File under lovely.

The Details.
After spending the last few days having entirely too much fun with old friends, I have to admit that I was none too pleased to return to the grind (of school, finding a job and deciding my future…not as much fun as one would imagine). So with the new week in full swing and my case of the Mondays slowly fading like a bad hangover I searched my files to find something that would give me a little boost into Tuesday. So as to no surprise, with an art history essay deadline looming, I found myself drawn to shots that focus on the details of an entire ensemble, if you must. Maybe it’s because of the thorough outline I’m concocting about Roman mummy portraiture in Egyptian art (don’t ask) or the fact that I am totally obsessed with the little details of any look. But hey, isn’t it the little things that matter the most? File under mixing it up.

Denim Flared.
Raise your hand if you are sick and tired of super-tight skinny jeans that nearly suck the life out of you trying to get them over your legs. I for one have had it with my skinny jeans. I must say that my heart will always be drawn to that silhouette of a loose blouse messily tucked into a skinny jean; however, my legs are saying no more. With the coming of spring along with the coming of new trends, the flared leg jean is a bandwagon I will most definitely be hopping on. Although more difficult for us smaller girls to wear, I think I’ll stick to less exaggerated flares paired with my loafers for day and my favorite sky-high Chloe wooden platforms for those cool spring nights. My legs can breathe a sigh of relief. File under store the skinnies.

Can you see me now?
All my life I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the print we like to call camouflage. Growing up in Texas around hunters made me despise the association it had with killing animals for sport. The only time I ever encountered the print was on awful trucker hats and full onesies better reserved for the forest. But now that I’ve gained enough distance from the range, I have to admit that camo is slowly becoming less and less invisible to me. I mean, pair it with an Hermes bag, a Prada pump or a pleated skirt and it somehow changes to something more masculine, a little bit country but totally cool. But to be truly on trend, there is only one place to buy camo. I’ll be heading to my closest army supply store within the week to stock up. File under stand out. Also check out after the jump a hilarious picture behind the top picture that is sure to make you chuckle.

Hello Weekend.
I don't think I've ever been more relieved for it to be the weekend. My last week-long break went by entirely too quick and for the next two days I plan to fully make up for that. Although it may be a weekend packed with things to do and people to see, I'm going to make sure to take some time to just bask in the sun...and maybe get a little tan in the meantime. I hope you enjoy your weekend as well and take some time for yourself to catch up on your Vitamin D. File as to do list.

Fire Hazard.
A little pop of red can be the perfect update to any bland room or outfit and as long as it's used in small doses it can be oh so hot. File under update.
