Edited: Vogue Japan.

Sometimes the best things can be the most simple, too. Gorgeous model, black lacquer lip, feathered confection; done. Purple smoky eye, red nails, ornate dress; double done. Liquid cat eye, cigarette (only for art's sake; it's a nasty habit), statement earring; case closed. Set against an endless black backdrop these portraits by the makeup artist extraordinaire Francois Nars for Vogue Japan are captivating, haunting, sexy and (too me) simple all at the same time. I literally cannot stop looking at the top image, and it almost makes me want to try out the super dark lip stain...almost. File under obsessed.
